As part of the fantastic #LoveYourRailway campaign, I had the opportunity to recently visit Northampton and Lamport Railway.
The #LoveYourRailway campaign aims to raise awareness about the important work heritage railways do with regards to conservation, education, and research. The NLR is a fully volunteer-run heritage railway first established in 1984 which works to preserve and restore part of the former Northampton to Market Harborough line.
The nearly 300 members have been working hard over the years to open up the site to visitors, with the railway open every Sunday to ride on! I had a great time having a ride on the railway and look forward to returning when the extension to Boughton opens up early next year.
The group also have lots of exciting events for locals coming up, including Halloween and Christmas specials. Keep an eye out on their website for more information!
A huge thank you to Dan and the whole NLR team for showing me around and letting me ride their train!
