I have recently been in touch with Asda to find out what measures they are implementing during the coronavirus outbreak, to help customers who are having difficulty getting to the shops or accessing online deliveries.
Like other supermarkets, Asda are experiencing unprecedented levels of customer demand instore and online at the moment. They are working to create more online shopping slots, and reduce their existing capacity limitations by increasing numbers of vans and drivers. Asda are encouraging customers who do not fall into the vulnerable categories and who are not displaying any symptoms to shop in store to help free up space for online shopping for those who need it the most.
I have also been assured that Asda are working hard, and closely with other members of the food supply chain and local services, to help ensure that the most vulnerable people who are required to stay at home will have continued access to food. Dedicated shopping hours, in-store distancing measures, and other steps to help customers during this period will continue to be rolled out.
