On Friday I paid a visit to Braunston to meet Canal & River Trust volunteers at The Grand Union Canal.
The busiest point on any British canal network, this is a fantastic spot to watch passing narrow boats, and learn about the local area at 'The Stop House'. The volunteers are doing an incredible job at protecting the canal and the surrounding green space, and promoting the beautiful natural environment to local residents and tourists.
I spoke with Phil Mulligan, the East Midlands Director of the Canal & River Trust about the work that the Trust is doing to support the development of the cycleway between Daventry and Braunston, including proposals to improve the towpath.
