Congratulations to Green Acres Rural Enterprise CIC for winning the Octopus Group Entrepreneur Award!
I first came across Green Acres in Staverton shortly after it was established in 2012. It is a fantastic organisation that provides informal education opportunities to primary and secondary school children based on themes of growing, preparing, cooking and marketing fresh products and the development of rural skills, which are a benefit to the younger generation now and in the future.
For young people that struggle with conventional learning styles at school, the Centre is the perfect opportunity to grow and discover their passions: from cooking and farming, to automotive tailoring and clothes making!
Despite being forced to close their café and educational workshops for young people, they took it upon themselves during the pandemic to help the elderly and struggling families through the delivery of food parcels. They have given local people a sense of purpose through the opportunity to get involved and give back to the community, learning invaluable skills along the way.
This organisation has done so much for my constituents, and I am really proud of all they have achieved. I urge all of you to go and try their delicious food, but make sure you book ahead!
Once again, well done Green Acres. I look forward to hearing many more success stories in the years to come!
