NHS Corby and NHS Nene Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have been working together to support the establishment of a single Northamptonshire CCG from 1 April 2020. The NHS Northamptonshire CCG will take its membership from 69 General Practices and will be responsible for commissioning healthcare services for a registered population on circa 773,000.
NHS England have recently advertised for the role of GP Chair for Northamptonshire CCG. As GP Chair the post holder will:
- Lead the Governing Body, ensuring that it remains continuously able to discharge its duties and responsibilities as set out in the CCGs Constitution
- Lead the Governing Body in creating a vision for the organisation and share this in a way our local communities understand, enabling the CCG to make a real difference in the Northamptonshire health and care system
- Play a crucial role in building relationships with clinical groups and leaders across the Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership to support the design and implementation of new models of integrated care and commissioning development as we move towards an Integrated Care System (ICS)
This vote has now taken place and I am pleased to announce Dr Joanne Watt has been successfully elected to the role with a clear majority.
In the meantime both Dr Joanne Watt and Dr Darin Seiger will remain in their roles as GP Chairs for the respective organisations until 31 March 2020 as both NHS Corby CCG and NHS Nene CCG remain individual statutory member bodies until this time.
