Daventry’s Welton Academy has been recognised as one of the best primary schools in the country for pupil attainment in SATs.
The Minister of State for School Standards, Nick Gibb MP, sent a letter to the academy in recognition of the very high development levels achieved by its pupils.
The school’s results, which were published in January 2018, show that 100% of Year 6 pupils at Welton reached or exceeded the expected standards in their SATs. As a result, the school is now ranked in the top 1% of primary schools in England for pupil attainment in reading, writing and mathematics.
RT Hon Nick Gibb MP writes: “We want to ensure that every child has the necessary fluency in reading, writing and mathematics to prepare them for a successful secondary education and beyond, and your school has provided this to all your pupils.
“Thank you for your hard work and professionalism in producing such high standards and congratulations again to you and your staff for all you have achieved.”
Mike Colcombe, Headteacher at Welton CE Academy, said: “This is an incredible achievement for staff, parents and pupils. Our school community has worked tirelessly to provide our pupils with a world-class education in a warm and welcoming environment.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued hard work and support in helping our pupils to become their confident, academic best.”
