I recently discussed the pressures that Kettering General Hospital were facing at the moment, the same can also be said for Northampton General Hospital (NGH), which is experiencing unprecedented demand with more than 400 people a day attending the department, up 30% from last year.
With this in mind, we must all work together to make sure that the services provided by NGH are available to members of the local community who need them most. We all have a responsibility to ensure this is the case.
This also means that non-urgent patients will have to wait longer than usual for treatment or be referred elsewhere.
To ease pressure, local people can ensure that visits to A & E are necessary. NHS 111 has a dedicated team who can provide advice, connect you to a nurse, emergency dentist or GP and other services are available such as Corby Urgent Care centre.
Hopefully, this situation can resolve itself as soon possible but until then we can help to resolve this situation by doing our bit and letting others know.
A more comprehensive statement on advice and the current situation at NGH can be found attached.
