Unfortunately, due to the difficulties in recruiting the theatre and recovery staff needed to maintain a high quality service, surgical procedures can no longer be delivered at Danetre Hospital in Daventry for patients who require anaesthesia without compromising their safety.
I understand this is the case because of a national shortage of skilled theatre staff.
I enquired as to what steps had been taken to attempt to fill the posts required. I recently received a response from Deborah Needham, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at Northampton General Hospital in which goes into detail on the recruitment process that took place.

I can assure you that all other services including outpatient and diagnostic appointments, will continue to be provided at Daventry as per usual.
