The Daventry NatWest branch is due to close next month, on 25th September. Although this would seem like an inconvenience to the people of Daventry, it is worth noting that 99% of UK personal bank customers and over 75% of business customers can do their day-to-day banking at the Post Office.
Instigated in January, the Post Office and UK Banks' have teamed up to secure access to local banking services. So the effects of this closure are minimalised as the Post Office can offer customers cash withdrawals, cash and cheque deposits and balance enquiries. It is also pleasing to know that the Post Office have guaranteed longer opening hours including an early morning and late evening service, as well as over 4000 branches now open on a Sunday.
99.7% of the population live within three miles of their nearest Post Office outlet which suggests that these banking services can be particularly practical and accessible to the people of Daventry.
