It is a great honour to be able to publicly announce that following the Prime Minister’s reshuffling of various government and Conservative Party departments, I have been promoted within the Whip’s office to the role of Comptroller of Her Majesty’s Household.
The position was first held in 1399 by Sir Robert Lytton and is derived from the medieval Household office of Controller of the Wardrobe! Thankfully I can assure you that the duties accompanying the title have changed vastly since then, as I will continue to assist in the organisation of the Conservative Party’s contribution to Parliamentary business; including ensuring that MPs vote in line with the government to fulfil the pledges made during the Election last year. In addition, I will also continue to accompany the Queen and other members of the royal family to certain diplomatic and social events, as is the privilege of all members of the Royal Household.
I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate my newly appointed Conservative colleagues across the government. I very much welcome the Prime Minister's appointments, they ensure the Government reflects the country and people it serves and is brimming with fresh talent for the future. There is no better example of this than in the Whip's office which now offers a diverse and representative team who I am looking forward to working alongside.
I am thrilled to be taking up a new role with such a fascinating history behind it, and am looking forward to continuing to aid the government and country in all the ways that I can. However, I would also like to express my commitment to representing my constituents and supporting them wherever possible; be it through making sure their voices are heard or providing assistance with any problems they face.
