As part of the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme, the Education and Engagement Service will be hosting their next residential, Teachers’ Institute, 22-24 June 2020. Teachers will experience UK Parliament first-hand, and then return to their schools to share what they have learned with thousands of their pupils and colleagues.
Transport, accommodation and meal costs are covered, and applications are welcome from teachers, school/college leaders and teacher training providers working with young people aged 5-18.
The course includes:
- Q&A sessions with MPs and Peers
- Talks from subject specialists
- Interactive workshops on how to engage pupils in the work of UK Parliament
- Tours of the Palace of Westminster
Following the course in 2019, 100% of teachers involved said they felt confident (29%) or very confident (71%) teaching about Parliament. 100% said they would recommend Teachers’ Institute to their colleagues.
“It has been the most amazing course I’ve been on. I’ve found it has really fired my passion again. It has given me real and practical ideas I can take back to school.”
Teacher Ambassador, 2019
This is a great opportunity for any educators in the constituency to share some of the most fascinating features of politics and parliament with their students (and get to visit the wonderful building that is the Houses of Parliament).
Application forms are available online at UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme and the closing date is Sunday 12 April 2020.
