On Sunday 29th October, I hosted a Halloween-themed charity 5k fun run at Catesby Tunnel. The event took place in aid of MIND in Daventry, with over 100 participants braving the route!
Catesby's retired railway site boasts its own local ghost story - with multiple eye-witnesses recalling a man in a long coat shouting instructions as they passed through the partially-renovated tunnel in 2019, only to be told there were no construction staff on duty...
(Of course, after hearing this spooky tale, the first thing that came to mind was a Halloween fun run)!
I'd like to say a huge thank you to every attendee, all of whom have personally contributed to a fantastic cause. MIND offers essential mental health support and services in Daventry, providing a safe place for struggling members of the community. Sunday's event helped to raise over £600 for MIND (and you can still donate here): https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/funrundav
I would also like to thank Catesby Tunnel and Catesby Projects for kindly allowing us to use their venue, JB Event Facilities Ltd for supplying portable toilets, Ye Olde Spud Shoppe for keeping everyone warm with tea, coffee and delicious food, Stage Support Services Ltd. for the tech support and Brandprint UK Ltd for creating participant certificates, and the many other supporters who donated bottles of water, decorations, and hours of volunteer time.
This was a great opportunity for our community to come together in support of an invaluable local service - I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!
